Have you ever been better at the job than someone a level higher?
Anyone ever been in a situation where you became better at the job than a supervisor? How does that work, how’d you work around that?
I guess a typical example is an analyst 2/3 being more proficient at the job than an mba aso, but open to hearing experiences at other levels as well
The example you mentioned is a tale as old as time...really you have to respect the chain of command in IB and have to eat it. If it becomes an issue (example: aso clearly screwing something up that you made, had correct, and had all the support to back it up) you can bring it up to a staffer / vp that you're close with and not on the deal with
.
Yeah I work with some weak VPs and so I try to get as much MD facetime as I can and will try to run stupid tasks from a VP by the MD first to not waste my time. Still gotta jack off the VPs like their ideas are novel though and ask them questions so they feel involved
