Heard from JPMorgan IBD Asia

Hey! I was wondering if anyone got offer or rejection from JPM IBD Hong Kong yet...

I went to the Sunday Superday, but I heard a kid on the Saturday Superday is in the talks with them and have been communicating...

Has anyone else heard back?

The superdays were at their New York office for people in the US, and I had 3 rounds 30 min each. I haven't heard back either, spoke to the HR rep after my final rounds and she said we'll hear back by the end of the month...?

man, at the london office they informed me of their decision they next day at 12 pm. i dont know why it takes longer for the HK... btw, didnt you feel like the 30 min interviews are waaaay too short, like the interviewer didnt have time to cover anything in those 30 min

did you get the offer for london office? toi? It seems like they only give you notice that quickly if you are really good

i thought 30 mins is about just right for me. I didn't want it to be any longer than 30. They kept grilling me with technicals.

it's likely that some offers may have been given out i guess. I hope wufei is right about "we'll hear back by the end of the month...?"

How many IBD interns are they hiring in HK? the number must be small i suspect...

the hr person told me by the end of the month, too.

they are hiring around 10 -15 when i talked to her ( out of ~90 candidates or something)

I'm guessing that for those of us who hadn't heard back, we're on the waitlist. Can anyone confirm this? Also, anyone have an idea on the yield rate, maybe based on last yr?

Anyone applied for JPM Singapore office?

I applied Sg office, and also managed to get contact with Singapore HR. But she rejected me saying that Singapore office only "recruit locally", unless I can fly back for their Assessment Center they won't offer me 1st round interview.

Anyone interviewed at NYC was with Singapore office? I still suspect HR BS me (because of my weak resume?) as there is no way HK office could fly all the way to US but couldn't "by the way" help recruit for Singapore office.

It sucks when applying for overseas positions, I am SUPER SAD nowadays

The HR is not BSing. He/She is largely correctly.

The HK team typically does not help hire candidates for Singapore office when they fly to US/UK. However, sometimes they transfer HK office ppl, including new incoming analysts/associates over to Singapore office directly. In general, the FO team in Singapore has a very small incoming new analyst/associate class and thus oversea recruiting does not make sense to them.

The Singapore office hires a lot more BO position, but mainly from local universities.

With the above said, it makes sense that the HR claims that you need to fly back for their AC in order to be considered.

False. JPMorgan Asia-Pac ex-Japan is a one-recruitment entity, meaning the same team recruits for both HK and Singapore and they will later place you in an office based on fit. Last year's Singapore IB/CM class consisted of 3 students from American universities and 1 from UK university.

It's definitely possible that we are on the waitlist, but let's hope that we are not and that they are taking their time to give out offers this year...

Have you heard anyone getting an offer for IBD? I still optimistically think that they haven't given out offers yet because I haven't heard anyone getting one yet.

But good luck to those of us still waiting!

Hi Guys,

I didn't interview for JPM, but I did interview for UBS HK and CS HK. CS's offer came out literally 6 hours after my interview. UBS HK notified me of an offer 3 days after my interview (they flew to chicago after new york).

As I understand it, it's something like this. By the conclusion of the interviews, they know a few people they definitely want. They will reach out to those people to gauge interest/likely yield (they ask which other firms you are considering). They also immediately reject candidates who they definitely do not want. The rest are put into HR limbo ("please patiently wait...").

Good luck!
