How do banks value buy side banking deal experience?

We closed a buy side advisory deal when I just started. Just under $200mm to a sponsor. I worked on it a little, enough to put on my resume. Since then we haven't really had anything come through that's been substantial. And it appears that my MD (the only one I work for) focuses exclusively (or almost exclusively) on buy sides.
