Have an upcoming call with a director. I am very interested in learning about his background and wonder how should I approach asking about internship opportunities? Should I ask him to help me get in touch with the analysts or associates responsible for recruiting or is that too straightforward? Thanks in advance.

I feel like he already knows that you want an internship if you cold emailed him. Every time I have gotten a response to my emails it’s either been “will forward to HR” or “ Happy to talk are you looking for an internship also?”
isn't it way too late for recruiting now? Or are you talking about next year?
A lot of the boutique firms still have open positions, especially those without a formal recruiting process
yeah would be ok to work at a boutique as a freshman / sophomore but OP should make sure it isn't unpaid those internships are a scam.
