How many IB analysts/associates have actually left NYC?

I just assumed most IB analysts and associates are working remotely from the NYC apartments. But have some actually taken off to their parents' homes away from city/out of state? And if so, is this looked down upon by higher-ups?

Depends on the make up of the group.

Some associates with spouses abroad left, some analysts and associates went back home for various reasons.

This is not looked down upon...we're in a pandemic here, as long as you're healthy and able to work remotely I think you're in a great position. Unclear why you'd think it'd be looked down upon. Banks are hoping everyone is healthy first and foremost regardless of where you are.

The new question is: what will 2nd year Analysts do? Depending on certain factors (i.e. NY just extended the lock down as per the governor a few minutes ago), they may just mail in their laptops and IDs and transition to their new PE roles once their contract is up.
