It’s group, location, economy dependent man.
I am 1/3 interns joining next summer but my group is small and at a regional.
ballpark (for NY offices on average, excluding capital markets):
BB: 80-90
EB: 25-30
not sure about MM and retail banking groups
Depends on the group, the economy, the bank, and the location.
Let's take two banks in London: Citi & JPM (because I know their numbers).
IBD (excl. Capital Markets) 2022:
Citi: 60
JPM: 60-80
IBD (excl. Capital Markets) 2023:
Citi: 30
JPM: 60-80
As you can see, it varies for some banks, other banks will keep the same number.
Pretty sure MS NY said 120
that’s seems so low, my analyst class at BAML is north of 250, that may include satellite offices tho i’m not sure
Not sure about other banks, but the MM I’m at is taking 20-30 interns at their main office, with the regional offices taking significantly less
