How many times a week do you get contacted by students?

I have been sending cold emails to bankers. I am targetting Vice Presidents in Investment Banking.

Many have come back to me to say that they receive emails from students every week so they dont have the time to commit.

I was wondering, how many times a week on average do students contact you to network with you?

Depends on what school you go to. Surprisingly, non-target alum bankers don't get e-mails very often. My boss (Partner at boutique) who attended my school said I was the first student to reach out, but he gets tons of e-mails from students from his MBA school (target).

The more target the school is, the more e-mails bankers get, but more target schools have way more bankers on the street. For every non-target banker there are at least 5 semi-target bankers and at least 10 target bankers.

That's a good point. I know that I try to help the few alumni who reach out to me, or at least provide them with advice (I graduated from a non-target), as do the other few alumni I know of who are in Banking. To answer the Op's question, it really is on a case by case basis. I know some bankers who graduated from Targets who rarely get an email, and I know of others who get emails fairly often - the same can be said of non-target bankers, although in general, I would agree that non-target bankers seem to get less email/cold calls than Target graduate bankers - but it's more just the law of numbers than anything else (also career centers in non-target schools are often worse than Target schools; I know, for example, that my school barely keeps track of anything outside of ops and control).

I actually almost never got contacted by students that went to my college. In fact, I usually got "cold-emailed" by students from our non-core schools, some of which I had never heard of.
