What’s the problem with living in midtown? I’m interning from out of state this summer and planned on finding housing in midtown so I’m curious.

What's the problem with living in midtown? I'm interning from out of state this summer and planned on finding housing in midtown so I'm curious.

Midtown is long on office buildings and vagrants and short on culture.  Lower Manhattan has a lot of smaller, upscale neighborhoods like Tribeca, SoHo, Nolita, Greenwich, Gramercy etc and some of these have a good social scene (Greenwich).  Upper Manhattan is more residential but has the museums and Central Park and feels safer than midtown.  Most analysts do live in Murray Hill as its like a mini college town within manhattan but most analysts do not end up staying there more than a year or two

 

there r def pros and cons of living in midtown and i personally think its still better than east village
