How to arrange for a M&A with family business
Hi, currently an IBD analyst at a MM IB and a family member of mine owns their own private business. They've decided it's time for them to sell the business and asked if this is something I can do for them given I work in M&A.
However, the business is in another sector to mine and is also very small (around $10m in annual revenue) my MM bank typically does deals for companies with $50m + revenue.
Would it be possible for my bank to agree to do a meeting to discuss a potential M&A for a family member of an analyst? If so, how should I approach this given I don't know anyone in the appropriate sector team?
Don’t do it - family relationships are way more important than business. If the sale goes sideways it could really damage your relationship with them
Fully agreed
Family and business never mix. This is bigger than a deal - it could ruin your relationship and you end up never speaking to them again because of a small disagreement.
