How to break into IBD in US as a student from mainland China

I am a student from one of the top universities in China, and gonna study at CBS for a Msc degree (not MBA) in New York this fall.

I have interned at 2 investment banks (including SA at CICC) and a pan-Asia buyout fund, and I really want to break into IBD in US. But it’s my understanding that the banks in US do not take the students who graduated from China’s universities like myself.

So I really need some guidance or advice on this, please feel free to shed some light.

If you haven’t lived in the US at all (or internationally for that matter in an international/American school) culturally it will be very tough for you in general as US offices are very “fratty” compared to international offices.

You can try to recruit but mind that there are visa issues + cultural issues + communication issues (especially if you don’t sound “American” or have a fluent english accent) as networking plays a big role.
