How to bring up compensation question in a superday
Hi guys,
I'm interviewing with a lower mid market IB and I will be interviewing with almost everyone in the team in the superday. I was asked about my expectations on the compensation in the 1st round of interview with HR and I was wondering if and when I should bring up the compensation question in the superday if they don't mention it? Also, can you guys briefly talk about the common structure of the IB compensation package? Thank you!!
Don't bring it up.
Thank you for your response! Just curious, if I don't bring it up and end up getting the offer, do you think my compensation will fall in the range(or just the lower end of the rage) that I gave out in the 1st interview? I didn't mention anything about the bonus in the 1st interview, so I'm wondering how it will be determined if we don't discuss it? Thank you!
Your pay will likely be standardized with the class you join; for example, if you are joining as an AN1, you would likely get the same base salary as all the other AN1s. All performance bonuses are variable, but you can look at WSO or elsewhere for average estimates.
Thank you for your response! I’m actually a lateral hire, so technically nobody is in the same class. Do you think my pay will be similar to other 1st year analysts at the firm? In your opinion, Should I not bring it up in the interview? Thank you!
Don't bring it up in the interview. If you get the offer, just ask HR directly, they will have an answer to these things and can provide you with some color but it won't be a complete answer. The only way to know for sure is to talk to someone who used to work in the group.
I came in as a lateral hire and was given the standard street pay for a 1st year analyst. Since I am an actual first year analyst but coming in off cycle. Dont try to negotiate. BUT my offer letter did state that I’m up for analyst 2 with the rest of the class next summer. So only half year for A1..not sure if that’s standard
Thank you for your information. I appreciate it!
