How to command a room?

Hi all,

Title says it all - I graduated from school and started in finance during the pandemic, and so my superiors don’t know me too well. I think my general demeanor is calm and laid back, but largely pretty normal.

As someone who was in Greek life in college and intentionally tries not to let that bleed into his work life - what advice would you give an undergrad about generally being behaviorally more polished? Speaking cues, body language, etc.

I feel that I lack the speaking ability needed to command a room. Are there any general approaches to this you’d recommend, or tips that worked for you? Aside from the cliché “picture everyone in underwear” type crap

You’re an analyst you’re not supposed to be super confident, it’s just going to come off as cocky

But otherwise just relax? It’ll come with time as you start to not give a shit
