How to get Boston IB?

How do I go about landing Boston IB post MBA? Currently an engineer in the South, planning on applying to b-schools this fall. I have a lot of family and friends in Boston, so I'd like to move there. What is my best shot to get there? Go to a b-school in Boston (harvard/mit) or close by (dartmouth/yale)? Work in NY first and then lateral? Are there certain companies I need to target? Just trying to get to Boston

Would also add Evercore, Moelis, and I believe Lazard have teams there, mostly Tech focused. RJ tech team is based out of Boston as well. Shea is Boston based and is a solid Tech bank. Would shoot for one of those for a summer associate role. I’ve been on the hiring side for our MBA associates and we’ve hired from Booth, Columbia, Harvard, etc. so long as it’s a M7 think you’ll be alright. Don’t need to be Boston based. Once you start at your MBA, network with alumni at the info sessions and know your technicals. Be reliable, humble, and willing to learn and you shouldn’t have an issue landing somewhere there long term. Good luck!

Moelis/lazard have Boston presence. Moelis is home building/software and laz is just tech.

there’s also Raymond James, William Blair, Guggenheim, pjt Boston, Guggenheim, Aeris partners, JPM Boston, leerink partners.

poster above is right Boston is the hub for AMs(fidelity Wellington putnam, etc) those hire frequently out of MBAs

Yeah would add that pretty much all of the tech groups are software-focused, so knowing the enterprise software market and more specific details about a couple subsectors will probably be necessary. A lot of the groups are doing sponsor-focused sell sides and are based in Boston because of relationships with software private equity firms, so knowing the universe of clients/buyers would be helpful background. Like with Houston, they need to make themselves believe that you actually want to be in Boston and not lateral to NYC later, so just make sure when you're networking you really sell why you want to be in Boston longer-term (especially as an MBA associate)

Someone pls tier the boston offices, specifically pjt, lazard, gugg, shea, and moelis
