How to maximize the recommendation opportunity?

Hi everyone, I really need some guidance .

I recently got a recommendation opportunity through networking. My alumni told me that "If there's any interesting job that you would like to apply to here, just let me know, and I can recommend you through the system". I am really grateful and appreciate this opportunity. However, the summer analyst program in MS has closed. I wonder what I should do to maximize my possibility to get a summer internship this summer.

(My final goal is a full-time job in IBD.)

To improve your chance of getting a IBD FT, I believe you should be looking for more firms with open positions. Not entirely sure about your background and goal there, did you mean you want a 2021 program?
