How to properly ask for other bankers to speak with?
Hi all,
So I'm currently networking as I'm trying to break into IB (I go to a non-target). My school actually has a good amount of alumni in banking and I've been reaching out to them. So far, my informational interviews have been going really well (I've had multiple people tell me I ask good questions, sound good on the phone, etc).
The only problem is trying to get more contacts from them. Whenever I finish an interview, I always ask "Is it alright if I contact you for any future questions?" They all say yes. But when I "follow up" to ask for more bankers in their company to talk to, not many of them respond. I've only had a few bankers actually get back to me with the contact info of others.
Does anyone have any advice on how to "properly" ask for other banking contacts? Maybe some strategies that worked for you? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
The question is not how but should you?
Should you be asking for other bankers to speak with? Is there some reason why they can't help you? You reached out to them and they replied because you had some connection with each other. But unless there's more of a connection there, why should they pass you on to their colleagues?
