HR Reached Out to Me?

So I received an email from HR at an EB letting me know that my information was passed along by one of their bankers and asking for my resume. I haven't actually met with anyone at the firm, but I've been in correspondence via email with an analyst throughout the summer looking for a time that works for us to connect. I'm wondering if this is indicative of me getting an interview? Why wouldn't the analyst have asked me for my resume himself? Has anyone has experienced a similar situation?

Who cares?!? Unless you're contemplating not giving them your resume I don't understand how any answer here alters your course of action. They haven't rolled out a red carpet so keep grinding and good luck. It would literally mean anything and nothing and you assuming anything isn't helpful to your cause. Don't get to high or low in your job hunt as you're bound to have some disappointment along the way.

No this is not indicative of an interview, this happened to me in the past. Just means that you are now in the vast pool of applicants that they will screen for interviews. If you know quite a few people at the bank / head analyst that deals with recruiting, you have a higher probability of landing an interview because the analyst knows you. If it is someone not involved with the recruiting process or a new employee, chances are they will not be able to pull for you and thus it becomes harder to get shortlisted for an interview.

Reaching out to bankers with the notion that HR reached out to you would do nothing for them. I would reach out to as many bankers as possible regardless, and network with them. It also wouldn't hurt to mention that you have submitted your resume to HR so that they can keep an eye out for it.
