I can’t stop comparing myself to you guys
I'd like to preface my post/rant by completely taking responsibility for my feelings and the relevant insecurities I hold that make me feel the way I do while writing this.
A little background on myself; I graduated last December from a non-Target state college and was recruited to join a MMB Analyst program at one of the biggest banks in the country. Prior to being hired, this was a dream job, but soon after joining, I quickly became bored of commercial banking and wanted more. That's when I signed up for this site and started applying to MO IB risk roles in the hopes of eventually transitioning to FO. Even though I believed i interviewed well, I was rejected. Now I come on this site and I feel extremely insecure when I compare myself to you guys. Even though I'm on the top percentile of earners for my age group, and earn more than the average American, I feel restless and like a failure, and mostly because I'm in commercial banking, which I know is looked down upon, and I don't know where my career will lead. Anyway, this is just a temporary feeling and I will continue applying and networking and interviewing. Just feel sad today because I was rejected for something I thought I had in the bag. For those who read, thank you.Anyways, $4 a pound
Stop moaning and figure out the next best way to break in… likely MBA. Start studying for GMAT / doing things to boost your profile and apply after 2-3 years of work then come in as an MBA associate.… not rocket science
Not everyone can be 6'4, summa cum laude from Princeton economics, and independently wealthy like every single poster on WSO. Wouldn't feel too bad about it.
....and earn $140k base (FTP btw)
Full-time Paradise you say?
Lots of survivor bias here. Only seeing the success stories.
Appreciate your response. Did you get your MBA?
