I think im screwed for interviews

I am decent at math on pencil and paper, but when it comes to calculations in my head i suck. i plan on interviewing for a S&T (Credit derivatives) internship this fall and i am afraid the interviewer mind fuck the shit out of me. any advice?

they usually see want to see how you think. Sometimes, they don't care about the actual final answer, but the methodology you used to derive the answer

You happend to choose one of the most quantitative part of the bank. You will get one of those Mensa questions like if 2 people are driving toward each other at 2 different velocity at how long it will take them to meet. You definitely want to know some math tricks like what's 26 times 62 what's 75^2 (and 35x35...) what's 7^4.

I mean if you are asking for an M&A poisition then you will only get some balance sheet or CapEx question.

Oh that's the worst case. If you get a chill person they'll just want to see your thought process... so tell me how many footballs do all the NCAA division 1 schools collectively use?

26*62

is the same as 1062 + 1062 + 6*62 so 620 + 620 +372 1240+372 =1612

just break it down into manageable segments and comine them. it's really not that hard

i dont no im nervous, does anybody know which firms look for fit mostly?

Come on, man! Shoot for the stars! If you don't land on one, you can always end up on the moon :-)

(I don't remember the exact phrase, but you get the drift)

26 x 62 34 x 43 has some kind of trick to it but I forgot how to do it. I got the 7^4 one right. it's 49 x 49 or 50 x 50 - 50 - 49 = 2401

35x35 is 1225 95x95 is 9025 end with 25 the next 2 digits is the first number times the number plus one 35x35 would be 3x4 record that and then add 25 to the end 1225

you don't need to know how to do those nerd tricks unless you have an asshole interviewing you. you probably don't want to work with that person anyways.

fit interview - all of them. who likes kids with experience banking or at least some sort of finance or at least some sort of corporate - all of them many like kids with some knowledge of the financial statements, knowing DCF and comps is a must. of and know your audience. don't be like how about those yankees and the person's a red sox fan or don't be like giants did well but person only likes golf, etc.

I am praying for a fit interview. I got an A- in calc multi, but that is conceptual paper/pencil shit, in my head i am no better than a drunk fucking a chick thinking up an answer. I would only ask if they inquire about your knowledge of DCF and comps for summer analyst? I know what DCF is, but that is the extent of my knowledge.
