IB exit opportunities

In college, people often would market exit opportunities after IB to be PE, CorpDev or HF. After working in IB, I've noticed quite a few people go into stuff like FP&A and strategic finance. For those of you who did, why did you choose these fields, and what are your thoughts on these roles after working in them? Also, any color on comp?

Had a friend go into fp&a at a tech firm after IB. Said comp was 95k base with 7k bonus. 35 hours a week. Just one data point, however.

Going to be a severe pay cut, but some people are kind of traumatized by IB and really want a 9-5 with predictable workflow. Even the "lifestyle" exit corp dev can be a solid 60+ hours at some firms. Also for anyone above analyst level, those premier exits become fewer and a VP looking to jump ship immediately might not have a ton of options.
