IB Second Year Analyst - Potential Lay Off and What to Do? (STEM OPT visa)

Hey guys,

I'm a second year IB analyst in NYC at a global IB looking for advice on what to do now to hedge myself as my firm just went through a big round of layoffs. I survived for now. I heard there will be another round in the next few months, and I don't like my odds. Specifically, even if my performance skyrocketed, I just don't think I'll be off the hook, so I'll need to take the safer route.

Question: What other roles and firms should I consider, given that my STEM OPT expires in July 2025? It doesn't have to be exactly IB as any other finance role would be fine.

Thanks!
