If I identify as Trans could I apply for women's events/programs?

Hi guys. I'm a prospective monkey, currently a freshman at a target university. Not diversity (Asian male). I've seen many women's events for both sophomores and juniors that look like they would be excellent opportunities to break into banking.

If I identified as trans, would banks allow me to apply for and participate in women's programs? I'm pretty short for a male and have always looked very "boyish" or "feminine" with softer facial features, little facial hair etc. I think if I put effort into my appearance, wore a wig etc. I could easily "pass" as a woman. People might be skeptical of my voice, but I don't think it would be a deal breaker.

I've always been sort of a loner so haven't really made a ton of close friends who would mock me and my parents don't live here so I wouldn't have to worry about that. My plan would basically to be start school next year in the fall as a girl and then apply to female diversity programs for sophomores.

Controversial

If you wish to go to the extremes and do something morally wrong as this you don't deserve a spot at these events/programs let alone a job in finance.

My $0.02 on this is that it's usually incredibly easy for non-cis people to identify when cis people are pretending for the sake of diversity. That doesn't mean you can't succeed - I'm pretty sure there's a ton of cis people who get through LGBT+ diversity programs because obviously, at the end of the day you can't actually tell someone's sexual orientation from how they look or act. You should just be prepared to lie constantly (a lot of these diversity programs pair you with a long-term mentor who is also LGBT+) and face the possibility of people realizing you're lying.

What if I don't identify as Trans, but instead just claim to be a real woman? That could be even better as trans people aren't treated very well, but women are.

I got the idea for this while watching the movie Moneyball with Brad Pitt. In the movie, Brad Pitt applies advanced statistics to beat the system in sports by doing contrarian things. This is basically what i'm planning but for banking recruiting

I think I know why you don't have a lot of friends. On a more serious note, don't be a fucking idiot you're gonna have to play dress up for the next 4-5 years of your life putting on a fake persona and wig for that matter which is definitely not worth it for any program or job. You're at a target just put in some work and instead of plotting about how to be the next Caitlyn Jenner rush a frat and make some friends.

I'm going to give you the perspective of a trans person here.

You're going to be found out that you are identifying as trans just for the sake of the program. Your voice wouldn't be the deal breaker, or even the way you look. It'll be obvious when someone who's even moderately acquainted with LGBT stuff talks to you are realizes you are not at their level with LGBT knowledge. (Side note: it's also pretty easy for us trans and alphabet group people to pick out of a random crowd who is LGBT even if they are trying to hide it.)

Network and put in the same work everyone else on this site does. You're at a target. You're in better shape than most of us. If you have the time to look like a woman, you have the time to network, and networking is easier too even if you happen to be severely autistic, as your post seems to indicate.

This is so lazy and pathetic that I honestly respect it. I always down for cutting corners on things but like this transcends that into an art form.

Dayman?

1. If you go to a target and you can't break into IB you're pathetic and wouldn't be able to cut it in IB regardless of your gender.

2. If being a trans woman is such an advantage in recruiting then show me any trans women working as analysts/associates/VP's in IB who recruited as a trans person. I'll bet you couldn't find more than 3-4 if any. The cold hard truth is that with most diversity programs a gay white or Asian man and straight white or Asian woman will take up most of the spots. With the focus on social justice straight black men and women will get the job over you while still hitting the banks diversity targets.

3. The bank could ask your school if it's legit. Why wouldn't you have brought it up in applications? If both think you're lying you could get kicked out of school and blacklisted from every firm on the street. There are also articles online about the increasing number of Asians from outside the US saying they're LGBT on college apps in the past 10 years to get into target schools as a diversity admits so you're neither clever or unique.

4. What's your plan with regards to hormones? Trans women take hormones that would make you infertile in less than 3 months and change your body (give you tits, curves, etc.). If you think you can get away with not taking hormones what makes you think that the women you work with won't be able to tell you don't have/are wearing fake tits?

I can think of about 10 other holes in this plan that would backfire on you on top of these. For someone who supposedly goes to a target you seem to lack basic critical thinking skills.

If he identifies as transwoman, why does he need to take hormones? His feelings are all that matters and he...sorry....she doesn't need to prove anything to you cis-gender assholes, correct? No person on Earth can disprove his personal feelings. That is the new standard. Or are you saying that a person only qualifies as transgender if they follow predetermined stereotypes for male and female which are only constructs of society and do not actually reflect our inner selves?

Nobody is going to believe OP unless he goes all the way. Everyone's BS detectors are going to be going off and there will be a dozen other candidates that fit the LGBT diversity profile (mainly gay white and Asian men) that still hit diversity quotas and will get hired over him. It's going to be as simple as telling HR that OP is not commercial enough and nobody will bat an eyelash while HR Pats themselves on the back for identifying a trans candidate. If he interviews at one bank other firms on the street are going to hear about it as this is not a common thing so once he comes out there isn't any walking this back and getting hired as an Asian man in the future.

You don't need to take hormones to be considered trans, however no bank is going to hire a trans woman candidate that doesn't fit the gender stereotype for a FO role.

He also posted this online so if any HR type person were to sniff around they could find this post about an Asian man whose a freshman at a target identifying as trans to get a job. There aren't that many target schools so sniffing this guy out shouldn't be as hard as OP thinks.

As I posed earlier in my original post. If it's so easy to get a job in IB as trans person than can you name 3-4 people who are transgender working in FO jobs who recruited as transgender candidates?

Let's say that I'm a transwoman, but I choose not to transition to being a woman.  Also, my preference is not to dress as a woman. Also, on the gender spectrum, I'm not attracted to men.....but I still identify as a transwoman. I guess you would say a lesbian transwoman. Can I qualify for LGBTQ diversity? And if not, why not?

I simply feel like a woman who likes to dress and act like a man who likes women.

Agree. It’s crazy because they basically say “there should be no gender roles” and then transwomen are literally trying to be the most exaggerated over the top feminine thing ever. “I feel like a woman” just means “I want to fit into female gender roles.”
