Importance of Pre-MBA Industry on IB Post-MBA Recruiting
I am looking for some insight on how easy it is to get into a Post-MBA IB Coverage group in an Industry that is different than you were in Pre-MBA. For example, if all my Pre-MBA experience is in CRE/REIT's but I want to do TMT IB post-MBA, would this be a tough sell? Would I naturally be pushed toward REGLL Groups? How do I craft a story to aid in a switch like this? Any advice from Post-MBA Associates or people familiar with this would be appreciated.
Additionally, would my CRE experience would be a competitive advantage to get recruited for shops(in REIB) that don't do as much MBA recruiting outside M7 Schools (i.e. GS, Evercore etc.)?
All of the above assumes I go to a T15 MBA program.
.
What you are saying is that an MBA might not be as much of a help in switching careers as people think it may be? For example, if someone comes into an T15 program from a non-Finance background - is it still possible to recruit for IB?
