Incoming Interview Candidate on Linkedin?
Hi all,
Long-time reader, first time posting. Hopefully this question can be answered pretty easily.
Current Sophomore at Semi-Target. I've seen a good number of people that change their LinkedIn to "Incoming [X Position] at [Y Company]", which seems pretty logical. I don't have an offer in hand yet, but do have an upcoming interview with a well-known Asset Management shop. I'm wondering if it would be smart to change my LinkedIn to "Incoming Interview Candidate at Ameriprise Financial".
Please let me know your thoughts. Definitely don't want to jeopardize my chances at pulling the offer, but do want to update my connections.
i see no downside
in case you're being serious, don't do that lol. I'm not 100% convinced you're joking
Definitely. This should increase your chances of getting an offer five-fold - at least!
update your connections when you have a job
I would do it. You don't want to keep your connections and headhunters in the dark.
Is this a joke?
I'd recommend just changing it to "Incoming [X Position] at Ameriprise Financial" right from the start. That when during the interview they'll know you're a confident candidate and really want to be a part of the firm.
Yes, definitely do it
Bruh..... why do you wanna screw this dude! only reason I can think is that he pissed you off because he has not done much research.. BTW.. like interview candidate What the Serious Fuck!! if I updated my linkedin for interviews in line.. I would have line items longer than my life time.
"Incoming Prospective First Round On-Campus Interview Screening Candidate at Ameriprise Financial".
Pays to be specific...you wouldn't want those hordes of headhunters to be misinformed.
Interview Candidate at Troll Capital.
So you're suggesting changing my title would automatically help me leverage that interview into another interview?
Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Seems like people are split 50/50, so I think the proactive choice is probably the better one. If I have multiple interviews, would it just make sense to create a new work experience section for each, and then put the nearest interview as my title?
I would also add the applications where you are only at the online tests. Eg: Incoming Numerical Test Candidate at J.P. Areyoufuckingserious
You need to: - slip past security - get in the company's elevator - stand next to an MD - pull out a large-screen smartphone, enter your employment status to "Incoming [X Position] at [Y Company]" - turn to the MD, hold the phone towards him so he can hit the "update" button and and say "Hi, I'm trader_timmy. Why don't you and I make this happen?"
On a serious note, fuck the people that even say incoming analyst. Want a cookie?
Get on the radar of headhunters early is one justification I've heard for it. I mostly just put it down to ego. The majority of people I've seen change their title to "Incoming x at y" are the ones who want to impress people.
In my Darwinist opinion, you should just change it to "Future Rain Maker at Ameriprise Financial" and make sure you sign your emails to HR with your LinkedIn profile. You'll make an unforgettable impression.
This post deserves so many SBs and none of the MS it got
But really - this isn't all that far off from those people who post on LinkedIn all the places they also received interviews/offers/superdays (and, yes, I've seen it happen)
Lmao, as if putting incoming analyst at xx after receiving an offer wasn't retarded enough, people are going a step further and putting incoming interview candidate?
I should sign up a LinkedIn profile for my 1-year old and put incoming analyst ready to come over and fuck your company.
Put "Aspiring Analyst at The Goldman Sachs"
Make sure you forward a link to your profile to HR and the people interviewing you. The preftige alone of the Ameriprise name should earn you some cred.
Yeah, and if the interview doesn't pan out, just switch it back to what you had before (re: aspiring 4.0 GPA, incoming 800 GMAT taker)
But if it does, no shame in being an "Aspiring Incoming Private Equity Associate at The Carlyle Group" (or whatever your dream company happens to be).
