If people say it's not competitive, would it matter?

Getting a summer job at your local grocery store is probably more competitive

These rotational programs for sophomores such as the one with JP Morgan and Citigroup are not all that exceptional.

Your MUCH better off getting a proper (10 week) BB summer internship with a specific group.

Sorry my friend, but agree with the above. Rotational program may even be too good of a classification, this externship is more like an office tour.

How long is the program?

its four days, all expenses paid

don't get your hopes up of even landing a summer analyst position summer after your junior year, even AFTER doing one of these programs.

I interviewed with a different BB for one of these "externship" programs and they say while they take the fact that you did the program into account you are by no means guaranteed a summer analyst position for next year (which would be the all-important junior year internship)

not too many people are denied externship opportunities but since you're definitely going, make the most out of it by trying to get to know some of the people and get a feel for which group you want to work for (if you plan on staying at ubs next year)

Its not exactly a competitive gig to hook up. But make the most out of it and use it to get a feel of the firm.

You can always Network while you are there

Yeah and 4 days all expenses paid trip to anywhere is awesome.

After all it is free and although brief, you do have 4 days. Make the most of it and try to network as much as you can.
