Intern Alliances

Will be completing a SA soon and had a networking event recently, I can tell some groups have already been formed as they went to same school or have been friends. I have noticed that some of them have been cliquey and quite stuck up, how can one deal with this and not be excluded? especially if some of these interns will be in the same team as me so want to get along with them well.
