Internship Search Anxiety

Hi all,

Looking for advice, reality check, anything really.

We're in mid-November and I still haven't been able to secure the all-important summer internship before my senior year. Just a bit of background on myself, I'm currently a junior attending a complete non-target in the southeast (what I mean by that is that my school has produced virtually no bankers). I have had internships with a couple of F500's in their finance departments and currently intern at a lower middle market investment bank while I go to class.

I'm just concerned at this stage in time that I might not be able to a summer analyst role, I haven't been able to advance past the first-round phone screens at 4 different banks and not sure where my next chance will come.

What should I do? Am I overthinking it? Is it still too early to count myself out?

Thanks in advance for any words of advice.

  1. How have you not been able to get more interviews if you're currently interning at an IB?
  2. You need to seriously assess where you're going wrong in these first-round calls.
"Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."

Look for other internships. Given, you are 0/4 on moving on, your interview skills (either behavioral or technical) are lacking. First rounds tend to be easy compared to later rounds, so you really need to prepare more. It is late in the game, but if you can land a reputable internships in a related field, you can try to recruit FT.
