Interview MS Experienced Professionals Program - Institutional Equity Division Analyst

Hello,

I have HireVue coming up for the above mentioned role at Morgan Stanley. Is there anyone here i can network with regarding this position or someone who did interview before for this same position? Would really love any help and insights to get prepared here.

Thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips and insights to help you prepare for your Morgan Stanley HireVue interview for the Institutional Equity Division Analyst role:

General HireVue Structure and Tips:

  1. Structure:

    • Typically, Morgan Stanley HireVue interviews include 2-5 questions.
    • You may get 30 seconds to prepare and 90 seconds to answer each question.
    • Some interviews allow one retry per question, while others may not.
  2. Common Questions:

    • "What's a recent transaction that you're interested in?"
    • "What's a time you saw something wrong in a team/project/activity you were doing? How did you react? What did you do?"
  3. Preparation:

    • Practice answering behavioral questions using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
    • Memorize 2-3 market trends or news stories and 2 recent deals to discuss if asked.
    • Be ready to explain "Why Morgan Stanley?" and "Why Institutional Equity Division?" in a concise and compelling manner.
  4. Technical vs. Behavioral:

    • Most HireVue interviews lean heavily on behavioral questions, but for roles in Institutional Equity, you might encounter light technicals. Brush up on your understanding of equity markets, recent trends, and relevant technical concepts.
  5. Environment:

    • Ensure a quiet, well-lit space with minimal distractions.
    • Test your webcam and microphone beforehand.
    • Dress in business professional attire.
  6. Practice:

    • Record yourself answering sample questions to get comfortable with the format.
    • Use the unlimited practice trials offered by HireVue to refine your delivery.

Networking:

  • Networking is crucial for increasing the chances of your HireVue being reviewed. Reach out to current or former Morgan Stanley employees in the Institutional Equity Division via LinkedIn or alumni networks. Personal recommendations can make a significant difference.

I also have to do HireVue for the same program by next week, would appreciate any advice for this stage (program start date is July 2026)

Me too, I am yet to give hirevue but I understand, The 2 major questions to answer are 1. Why MS and why this program. 2. Walk me through your resume/tell me about your self. 3. Could be some behavioural like how did you handle a task etc. If anyone has given the interview please let me know. I understand same questions will be asked to everyone and they will check more on role alignment

Which team is the best team you’ve worked on and why. what did you do in the team

another one i can remeber is something around the lines of - if there’s anything you’ve done before that you’ve never done and how will this help the team at MS.

old threads ive seen say like they sent out hirevues to like 800 people or so and then they cut it down to 100 or something so it might take a couple weeks to hear back... also they posted the job way earlier compared to other years and so idk how long the process will be

I think looking at old threads in the past it takes like 3 ish weeks or so to hear back.... and I think basically if they start interviewing and you don't hear back you didn't move on

it was very good, the typical tell me about yourself, why Morgan Stanley, why IED, what are your skills that set you apart, which sub group are you interested in joining, which is your strongest skill and any questions for her. All the best guys, it was super conversational

Can anyone provide color on what types of questions they were asked? Thanks

Bruhhhh!! My phone interview wasn’t behavioral at all! Pure mathematics and coding!
was asked questions on parabola, Linear regression etc.

BAII_Truss:

Not yet, I feel like it’s too early given the past year’s threads

I haven't heard back since first round either, not sure if that means I haven't moved on, or they're just spacing out the timing of notice. I would think they'd notify you that you're not moving forward.

Who’s interviewing with the Quant team? and also who’s having their interview tomorrow?

I’m interviewing tomorrow afternoon but I’m with the advisory desk. Anyone else on that desk?
