Don’t connect with your interviewer on LinkedIn before the interview. That’s guppy-ish and won’t do you any good.
Wait until about two hours after the interview. Then connect with your interviewer/s.
If they didn’t like you, they won’t connect with you. They won’t want to connect with you just to turn you down three days later.
Also, maybe your connection request just slips through the cracks. Then they won’t connect with you either.
BUT if they hit you with that “connect-back” then take that as a favorable sign that you will likely get recommended for further interviews/an offer.
As for why to connect with them right after the interview? This is to keep you top of mind. You’re competing with hundreds of candidates for the same job. It can’t hurt to have a LinkedIn notification pop up on their phone with your name on it.
It’s a win-win really.

I got rejected at a superday for a BB, the associate still accepted my request lol. The firm I signed with, the associate who called me up with an offer hasn't accepted my request yet, so don't know about this haha.
Wouldn't this feel like you're baiting them into giving you some sort of sign or hint, especially that early? I'd wait a few days and follow up with them by email.
Idk I would see it as just a friendly gesture. I wouldn’t connect with them in lieu of a follow up. Maybe just an additional little signal
