IT Skills Required for Investment Banking
I will be studying finance at a US university (waiting to hear from all the universities but mostly IU Kelley) in fall 2016. I would like to get into investment banking. I have completed high school with an IB Diploma and currently I am on a gap year doing an internship at a furniture manufacturing company and also participating in community service programs.
More importantly, I have also been taking classes at reputed IT institutes. I am already very skilled in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint since high school. I took up advanced excel classes (hlookup, vlookup, pivot table, etc...) a month at an IT institute. Currently I have been taking classes for SQL fundamentals and Oracle Database and this will go on for 4 more months.
I would like to know what are the main IT skills required for investment banking. I do realize that I will be learning most of it at the university but I want to spend the rest of my gap year effectively by taking classes for learning more. I do have a lot of spare time so I wanted to put it to some good use.
Thanks!
