Culture supposedly pretty great. Friendly seniors who have lives and treat the juniors well. The group is L&T and they are one of the top groups in the sector--very strong deal flow. Exits have been to well known UMMPE shops from what I've heard… but I don't have many datapoints on this. Overall, seems like a solid place where you'll save money (Richmond) while being paid street (110k for AN1) and enjoy a solid culture and potentially better WLB. Would love to hear any other anecdotes or rumors about this group.

Jefferies carved the group out of BB&T when they were closing down their capital markets programs. The groups really interconnected to the local market and broader region though, one of the groups co-heads is married to one of the Apogem execs. People that leave have moved to Harris Williams or PE firms in the area like Blue Heron (Growth Equity), Quad-C etc. as well as some local strategics, Estes, McKesson etc.

Have a friend at Jeff and he loves it, but I can’t speak to the firm personally. I lived there 3 years while working for a large asset manager and with a strong salary (especially in IB) you can stuff money into the bank. I know analysts at Harris Williams that we’re paying less than $1000 a month for rent and had cool apartments. Tons of outdoor activities and top notch breweries. It can be very hard to break into the “in” crowd if you aren’t part of the St. Chris/Collegiate tribe; make a few friends that grew up in the area though and you’re set. All of that being said, if you’re expecting any sort of real night life, Richmond is not the place for you. Hope this helps some.
