Job hop thoughts

Over 2 years of experience. Started at a big valuation firm, got laid off and found another valuation job pretty quickly. Only been there for about 9-10 months but ultimate goal is to break into IB.

Would it be bad if the opportunity arose to take an IB job? 3 jobs in 2.5 years would look pretty bad but I feel there would be a story that makes sense that it wouldn’t hurt me.

Take the IB job if you get it. People hop ship a lot early in their careers. Now, you can’t just hop to another valuation shop for a 8% pay increase, but going to valuation to IB, you 100% should take that opportunity if it comes up. Everyone knows the white collar job market is awful right now, so most people will understand a short job tenure here and there over the past 2-3 years. Just don’t make it a habit.
