JPMorganChase IBanking: Chicago or NY??

Hey guys,

First off, thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help me out, I truly appreciate it.

Currently, I'm interning with JPMorganChase in Ohio. This Friday, I'm applying to move into the Investment Banking Analyst Program and I can choose my location. I've narrowed it down to Chicago and NY, and I need help solving this dilemma.

To start, I'm from Chicago. I absolutely love my city and I have a gigantic family, with close ties to them and all of my friends in the city. My end goal is to continue my career in Chicago when I'm in my 30s, and settle down there close to my family again. So I would absolutely love to continue working there if I could.

Then, there's NY, with all of the big-wigs and the crazy environment, with all of the ups and downs of an awesome city. My dilemma is picking between them because I'm worried that if I chose Chicago, I would not be networking with all of the crazy successful and ambitious people that I would have found should I have chosen NY. In addition, I'm concerned that I would be doing all back-office stuff, because NY is known to be as "where it's all at", with all of it's thrills and late nights and such.

So, if I were to choose my hometown favorite, Chicago, I'm concerned that I would not be reaching my full potential (and thus being as successful) than if I were to be in IBanking in NY. Please fill me in on what you guys think, I'd appreciate any and all insight that you can give me.

Once again, thanks so much guys. I can't wait to get out of Ohio again and see what's in store for me!

-Joe
