Late Start Date SA2020 NYC Housing - How is this going to work?

I have paid my downpayment at NYU and the latest news from them is everything is business as usual for the summer. They have a 9-week minimum stay and internship will now only be ~5 weeks. Do we just take a bath on the cost of the first 4 weeks? Airbnb maybe(if they still exist)?

Also are banks going to have a later end date? If so, then NYU and other college summer dorms won’t be an option unless they also extend their move out dates. No where has even confirmed yet the entire SA stint will be online so how do we know when we should try and get out housing money back? I imagine the later we wait the tougher it will be for a refund.

Isn't helpful to you but putting it out there that Airbnb is giving full refunds to those eligible (reservation made before mid march and reservation starting before May 31)

A few weeks ago the date they gave out was May 1, so I would not at all be surprised if it gets extended again, especially if NYC stays this bad. Also, if some reason it isn't if you provide "an extenduating circumstance" about COVID-19 you may have some luck.
