Lateral from Accounting to IB?

I am wondering how I can transfer from my current role into investment banking. I am currently working as a financial analyst (accounting) in a top oil and gas company in Calgary. I keep seeing IB Analyst postings and want to apply now.

I went to a non-target school that had no recruiting to IB so I didn't have the exposure to the opportunities. I have a good GPA (3.75 or so), was a varsity athlete that competed at the national stage, and had decent co-op (Credit Analyst in CRE). I am wondering what is the best way I can lateral into IB?

I am currently completing my CPA - not sure if that helps at all. I will be writing the CFE in September 2022.
