lateral from normal 50K grad position into analyst

guys,

if i want to lateral into an analyst position from my current job in my company's finance dept (50K job--basic entry level no bells and whistles), should i just apply as though i were a senior in college? basically, i have 1.25 years of experience come october when applications begin again for the bb's FT...

or should i just get a coffee and stop dreaming?

Its not uncommon at all. It can actually be an easy way in if you had a good job before.

They will look 50% at your school (brand grades etc) and 50% at your job.

I'm curious as to why you would want to switch now, obviously I know it's the money but I'm assuming you must have a pretty decent social life and everything, so why make the jump to this fucked up lifestyle ?

it's interesting because money wise my firm is very generous with regard to a decent salary as well as giving out bonuses [not banking quality but still very generous-10 K-ish I hear for my position]. i'm located in houston though, so that's part of the oil/gas culture. honestly, at my job, i work about 39 hours per week and have every other friday off (9/80 work weeks)... but if you want to do something you want to do something... i definately want to do banking. i would have done it earlier but i studied in a foreign country for undergrad and this where I ended up.

Usually you can't get into a campus recruiting position unless you are actually still in school. A lot of recruiters have told me that they weed out the resumes of people that are out of school that apply to those positions. You are an experienced hire, so apply for those kind of jobs, example: Experienced 1st Year Analyst.
