I'm a sophomore at Stanford interested in IB. A lot of my background is in healthcare and biotech, and I'm very interested in the field, but going to New York is also a plus/consideration for me. What are you're guys' thoughts?

Citi NYC pls
Neither. Hold out for better to come in the fall. Given your background probably every finance job in the Bay Area would be an option and there are a lot of PE/VC type firms that take undergrads too. Think of all the truly elite sophomores at Wharton and whatnot who have already signed with EBs. The competition for what remains will be relatively low.
Jeez just a thought but cmon odds are this guy holds out and gets a more prestigious role at say JPM HC, BAML HC, Centerview HC, GS/MS tech or god forbid on the buy side. In these options you could be in NYC at a place a distinct step above Citi. Not sure why someone at Stanford who is clearly on top of their shit would cave this early. It’s not even PJT/EVR. If either agreed Lazard.
Just a thought, I know a kid w similar background who summered at Laz HC SF and moved to NYC full time (also at Laz but not HC). Didn’t seem to be an issue making the switch.
If you're 100% set on Healthcare/Biotech, SF is definitely the place to be in my opinion.
Both are great options but there's no guarantee you'll be doing HC at Citi so that might be something to consider.
On a separate note, if you do get the chance, definitely take a look at Centerview's Healthcare/Biotech practice. They have a very solid team out in SF and it's certainly worth the look.
