I've seen people go into both traditional PE, FoF, various credit investing roles, etc. Pretty wide-open opportunities wise.
A lot depends on your specific group. Being in a LevFin group that actually models is obviously very big. Other factors include what types of deals your group does (e.g. industry-wise, LBOs vs. standard bond runs, etc.). LevFin group a bud works in rarely sends anyone to even smaller MM PE shops, but really great credit fund placement.
Apologies if this is a dumb question but can you explain to me what a credit fund is? Thanks! Also, what type of group does your bud work for?
