Leveraged Finance vs Leveraged Finance Underwriting vs Leveraged Portfolio Group
I keep seeing these terms pop up and I'm a bit confused as to how they're all related. Are they all LevFin IBD? Are they corporate banking? Or are they middle-office positions? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just starting to learn more about the industry and the terminology is a bit confusing.

I have and ChatGPT doesn't give me a clear answer or an answer that lines up with what I'm seeing in practice. It seems that each bank has their own labels and structure for the same functions. I was just wondering if their was a general guideline to determining what was IBD/FO and what isn't and where these different groups sit in the structure of an investment bank.
I guess it would depend bank by bank on what they call each function, but mostly the “FO” IB function that we talk about on this forum would be anything related to lev fin “origination”
This is for Citi I'm guessing?
yup
