Life is over?

Hi guys. I am a sophomore at non-target. Recently I am involved in an academic integrity case (plagiarism: lack of in-text citation). I will get a D in this course and my overall GPA will drop from 3.9 to 3.6 because of this. This is a freshman level writing course so it may not affect my major GPA. Since I double major in math and accounting minor in information technology this GPA may not that bad. However, I am an international student and this violation record will be on my file forever. I am not sure if I should continue pursuing a career in IB. I am afraid that this violation ends my career and my dream.

"FinanceGrad" Jesus christ, are they that tough on what seems like an innocent mistake?

Has the decision definitely been made?

I doubt it would show up on an academic transcript and at the same time, just pick your academic referee carefully / fully brief them so that they support you during any background check.

Keep applying for IB. 3.6 is still good.

Exactly. 3.6 is still good. Just try harder I'm sure your soon gonna pick up the pace.

Simple person with an artistic mind!

Yes, I think it is the final decision. I appealed the decision but they insist that is plagiarism. I am not sure if that will appear on my official transcript. I asked several people in my college but no one can give me an accurate answer. Thank you for the reply! I'll try harder to break in.

No. Usually we can retake the course if we get a D or below, but if it involves an academic integrity violation we cannot retake and the grade will on the transcript forever...I think that is a kind of sanction.

This. OP, since you have previously achieved a 3.9 previously, you clearly have the work ethic to turn this situation around in your favour. If you are worried what the reaction to this might be, well firstly, try not to disclose it as there's a good chance no one will find out. If they do ask, be honest - they should understand, especially if you have support from any academic referee.

Yes! Will try to get good grades for the courses next semester and raise the GPA...Hope I can reach 3.7 when I get into the process.

Hi I am recently facing the same exact issue, and I am an international student as well. Do you mind me having a private talk with you?
