Lincoln Energy M&A Group
Lincoln is starting up a new Renewable energy M&A group. Anybody have any info on this?
Apparently to be headed by Everett Currier and Aaron Klein from Keybanc. Anybody have info on these guys?
How risky do you think a start up IB group at lincoln is?
bump
Is it based in Houston? Not sure who those senior bankers are but KeyBanc is nowhere to be found on energy league tables for what it’s worth
One is Cleveland, one MD remote. They are building out a team in NY.
To be clear this is renewables focused though not O&G, so not sure if that changes the league table analysis
Yes, KeyBanc is one of the biggest shops for renewables.
can't see Lincoln being competitive in Power M&A. Keybanc barely does M&A and it's mostly co-advisor (bc of their project finance / lending elsewhere)
No balance sheet. no history of any relevant energy deals over there at Lincoln.
Personally wouldn't join. Guess the guys got guarantees to go to Lincoln?
I should have been more specific that this is renewables focused - not sure if that changes the comment re Keybanc's lack of relevance.
I am concerned about how they are going to win deals without a supporting balance sheet and not having the smartest guys in the room reputation of EBs. Seems like it would take just a ton of pitching to start to build the reputation and practice.
Yes - everyone gets guarantees nowadays
Lincoln hired an energy transition guy in London who is apparently very busy
Direct interview quote: "If you care about work-life balance, this isn't the role for you"
Appreciate people being upfront
Definitely a growing group that will see more deals in the coming years, mostly started through acquisition but firm has a focus on expanding developing groups.
Why do you say def growing and will see more deals?
What do you mean by started through acquisition? I thought it was two only MD's they poached from Keybanc or is there more to that story?
Do you have any info on what sort of subsectors they plan on focusing on / what the experience of the existing team is centered around?
