Macquarie NYC Superday

Hey guys,

Does anyone who interviewed for Macquarie in a past superday have any insight into the process? Was it super difficult and more technical or more behavioral?

Anything would be appreciated, as I have it soon. Thank you!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, superday interviews generally vary by firm, but here are some key insights that might help you prepare:

  1. Behavioral Focus: Superdays often emphasize behavioral interviews. Many threads highlight that how you present yourself, your communication skills, and your ability to connect with interviewers are critical. Be prepared to discuss your story, teamwork experiences, and how you handle challenges.

  2. Technical Questions: While behavioral questions dominate, technical questions can still appear, especially if your resume highlights prior finance experience. Be ready to discuss valuation methodologies, market knowledge, and any technical skills you've listed.

  3. Structure: Superdays typically consist of multiple back-to-back interviews, often with a mix of behavioral and technical questions. Some firms may include conceptual or situational questions based on your resume.

  4. Preparation Tips:

    • Know your resume inside and out.
    • Be ready to articulate why you want to work at Macquarie and in the specific role you're applying for.
    • Practice common behavioral questions, such as teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution scenarios.
    • Brush up on technical concepts relevant to the role, especially if you're applying for a finance-heavy position.
  5. Cultural Fit: Many firms, including Macquarie, value candidates who are not only technically sound but also a good cultural fit. Show enthusiasm, confidence, and a genuine interest in the role and the company.

Good luck with your superday!

Out of curiosity, what team are you interviewing for? From what I've heard, these superdays are typically just behavioral as technical screening is done in rounds prior.

Oh really? I’m interviewing for the generalist program, and heard they like to ask brain teasers, is this true?

I would be prepared, but I wouldn't expect anything too out of the ordinary. They are mainly just looking to hear your thought process. Is this for FT or SA?

Yeah, I did SA 25 Superday NYC. It was technical and behavioral, nothing out of the blue. Very standard, would focus on behaviorals tho. GL.

Was it similar to the 1st round? 1st round was pretty technical and got brain teasers too, or did the SD not have any brain teasers?

And is it 1 on 1 or 2 on 1, since it’s only 2 30min interviews. Thanks for the insight!

Yes, I would say the technicals will be on par and there might be 1 teaser. It will be 2 on 1, VPs-SVPs. But genuinely focus on behaviorals, because again technicals are just a given. Be very polished in your answers, plain and simple.
