I was at my company client meeting the other night with where I met with bunch of senior people (MD's) from lower tier European/Asian banks. You guys probably have an idea of what types of banks I'm talking about.
The conversation was pretty stale and more about business at first, but later on somehow they started talking about their comp. They gave no numbers, but they were basically trying to say even during pre-crisis they were never really raking in huge bonus packages. I stood there sort of hoping someone would throw out numbers, but they never did.
My question is if you make it to MD level at these lower tier banks, what could your compensation look like today? And what was the range back in the pre-crisis days?
Keep in mind this is in NYC.
