MD having affair with Associate

Turns out our MD, with teenage kids, is having an affair with a DEI Beckie in our team. I have evidence but I want to see what I can gain from this situation.

Navigating a situation like this requires extreme caution. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some key points to consider:

  1. Tread Carefully: Office politics can be a minefield, and leveraging sensitive information like this can backfire. If you attempt to use this knowledge for personal gain, it could damage your reputation or even lead to legal or professional consequences.

  2. Focus on Your Work Ethic and Political Capital: Success in finance is often a combination of strong work ethic and political capital. Instead of focusing on this situation, channel your energy into building goodwill and being a reliable team member. As highlighted in WSO's guide to office politics, being well-liked and respected is crucial for long-term success.

  3. Avoid Gossip or Blackmail: Engaging in gossip or attempting to use this information as leverage could make you appear untrustworthy. This could harm your relationships with colleagues and superiors, potentially derailing your career.

  4. Consider the Risks: If you decide to act on this information, think about the potential fallout. Could it lead to retaliation? Would it create a toxic work environment? Weigh these risks carefully before making any decisions.

  5. Seek Advice if Necessary: If this situation is affecting your work environment or personal well-being, consider seeking advice from a trusted mentor or HR. However, be mindful of how you present the information to avoid appearing as though you are stirring up trouble.

Ultimately, the best course of action is often to focus on your own performance and let others' personal matters remain their responsibility unless they directly impact your work or the team.

its very common lol you don't know the amount of girls who get returns after SA because of relationships

A little surprised how many are unaware how common this is. It always occurs under the disguise of mentorship. Here is a little hint, observe your female peers who the MDs offer way too much attention than what is warranted by their seniority and performance. Observe her behavior at social events, is she acting like a work wife even though MD is several layers above her.

I also got hit on by an MD - no affair, just to clarify. He was in a different IB group but kept trying to “mentor” me, singling me out and sending messages by email and phone. He’d drop hints and test boundaries, and whenever something crossed the line, he’d pretend it was meant for his wife and that he'd sent it to me by accident after I didn’t respond - this happened more than once and I still have the texts. Over time, the “mentorship” seemed to become a pretext to stay in contact and push personal boundaries. I had to stay polite and diplomatic but whenever he started sending me texts again, I’d get mini panic attacks lol - so much fun.

Because the sugar baby is explicitly there for his money.  The MBA associate is too but will at least pretend that she is into him because he is interesting/hot/whatever, and this will stroke his ego.

We are going to win and win so much that you will be tired of winning.

We are going to win and win so much that you will be tired of winning.

And you'll say Please Mr. MD, this is too much winning, I can't take it anymore

This stuff is messy and always will be and not just a banking phenomenon. I see the humor here around ways to extract value but reality no upside for anyone - those involved - or those that decide to drop a dime as not sure you may appreciate full dynamics of what is going on nor unintended consequences. Good luck with it and sorry in that spot. It’s unfortunate.

Leave an anonymous note by his desk telling him you know about his relationship and set a hidden camera. Then, upload the footage with his reaction on YouTube and drop the link on WSO

At 500 votes I will disclose the bank followed by the city at 750, and finally, initials of both MD and Beckie at 1000 votes.
