Miscalculated GPA (.03 off) - when should I inform?

Tomorrow I have the final round of a IB firm. I ordered an official transcript in preparation of a background check and at school we had a grade on our transcript for defending our independent work. I counted it the same as my written independent work (2 classes worth) when I calculated my GPA. The transcript says that the defense is actually worth 0 classes, so my GPA is actually .03 lower than what I reported on my resume. What should I do? Wait for the background check to ask, or contact the firm ahead of time?

Agree with SirTradesaLot, no need to do anything until you get an offer. .03 isn't going to be a difference maker at this point anyways.

MM IB -> Corporate Development -> Strategic Finance

The thing is...

If it doesn't matter - why not call/email now? If it does matter - do you want to be the guy who didn't call when he found out about the discrepancy?

A little like Pascal's wager tbh...

The reason I wouldn't call now is because I would find it a little annoying to receive that call. I would think the kid doesn't know what's material enough to raise up the chain of command and might worry that he's going to be a pest in the future.

I don't think it's a huge deal either way. I would only call if it was the difference between a 2.97 and a 3.00 or something like that. The lesson is just to round to one decimal point, I guess.

Also, I'm assuming the error went against you OP? If it actually raises your GPA, then don't even think about contacting them.

which is why i'd contact HR or an alum. HR doesn't really have a say... they handle only the admin from this point forward. and they aren't really above you on the chain of command. alums tend to want to help you out and are more likely to give candid advice/have your back if shit happens.

Doesn't matter at all, no one is going to care about the difference between a 3.67 and a 3.64. Just tell them you made a mistake by adding in the extra class and it should be fine
