Mizuho canned analysts
I heard Mizuho fired some analysts recently. Never heard of a bank that did that especially in NYC. Can anyone confirm?

Do you mean fired as in for bad performance, or laid off? If they were laid off that's pretty bad for Mizuho if true.
I heard laid off.
Does anyone know more about this? I wonder if this has anything to do with why they never got back to me after I interviewed with them...
Anyone know anything more about this? What group were they?
JEF HC laid off some 2nd year / lateral analysts about a month before bonuses were paid in '15 so wouldnt surprise me.
Nomura and CS cutting IBD staff too. Anyone got any inside?
It wasn't just analysts at Mizuho.
Any more information on this?
This is true (I work there). They canned 2 analysts and an associate which they called "restructuring". But they are hiring a lot of them soon. Makes no sense. They weren't under performing analysts either. I know one analyst found another job. I don't know about the other one or associate.
Thanks for responding and clarifying. Just curious, what group/groups were they in?
They were in the corporate finance Advisory Solutions group.
UBS fired analysts just before bonus in 2010. It happens.
Yes - it happens. But not when you are hiring a ton of new analysts. They are hiring ~20 new 1st year analysts in the summer and we are actively recruiting.
Just saw a new posting on the Mizuho careers site for the 2016 Analyst Program. Seems awfully late in the recruiting cycle so I was wondering if anyone knew more specific details about what groups are hiring?
I don't know where they are hiring but honestly I would stay away. A lot of transition.
SB'ed for the honesty.
