MM Banks that recruit MBA Summer Associate
Hi there,
I recently got admited into a M7 MBA program and will look for IBD Summer Associate in 2019. I am considering MM banks in NYC (guessing MM banks are easier to get into than BB).
I did my research and here are what I found so far.
BMO Capital Market (found on the website, and seem they like Wharton/Stern?)
William Blair (found on the website, and seem they like Kellogg/Booth)
Baird (I'm sure they have)
Houlihan Lokey (I'm sure they have)
HSBC (I'm sure they have)
Macquarie (I'm sure they have)
Jefferies (I'm sure they have)
For other MM banks, I didn't find out for now.
Can anyone help to supplement the list and point out their preference on schools?
Thanks!
When I was @ Macquarie, core schools for mba students were: NYU, Columbia, duke, booth, Georgetown, usc and UCLA
Thanks. I got into a MBA business schools">M7 school other than Booth or CBS. In that case, can I apply off-campus? And do you think socials are as important to MMs as to BBs?
You could kind of count Wells Fargo and RBC as middle market (or easier to get). Tbh out of MBA business schools">M7, bulge bracket not that difficult for domestics. Don’t think most MMs sponsor internationals.
Thanks a lot. Sadly I’m an international. How do you think the chance that an international from a MBA business schools">M7 school gets into BBs? Or MMs?
I would agree, if you are international you should target BBs (especially if you are at an M7). At my school, most international students end up going to a BB if they get a banking offer. Smaller boutiques and MM shops are less likely to sponsor, as mentioned above.
Add LMM and Piper to that list
Thanks.
My advice would be to talk to second year students in the investment banking club at your school and ask them which banks students have gone to in past years. On campus recruiting is a pretty structured process, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to hear from the banks that recruit at your school and network with their bankers. If there's a bank you're really interested in that for some reason doesn't recruit on campus, then you can try to reach out on your own, but the vast majority of students get their internships through OCR.
Understood. Thanks.
I read some of your old posts and saw you were looking for positions in HK. Could you share how that went?
When does summer associate recruiting usually start? Does anyone know?
Our first bank came to campus in September. Usually wraps up between December and January.
