Talked to my friend at Moelis and he said people won't hear back until return offers for SA's have been given. Then it'll be a 1-2 week sped up, informal process that's only one round to quickly fill the openings. Also, your application won't get you an interview there for FT, you have to know someone and have them tell the office to interview you

All I know is that SA apps are open and details from my process with them last year. Moelis's process is very tough to get into. You have to know somebody at the office to even be considered and their first round interviews aren't really interviews if you go to a target. They interviewed 10 people at my school and showed up knowing who they were going to move to the next round and tried to convince those kids why Moelis is the best firm. The other kids who they already decided weren't going to move on had a legitimate interview, but no matter how well they did it didn't mean anything

A few reasons off the top of my head from experience. First, they have to play the game in order to stay in good graces with on campus recruiting at schools. Second, they have to play the game for their own corporate HR and say they have put each candidate through an equal and fair process. Third, they have to play the game for the interviewees, the illusion of competition helps keep people honest.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.
