Morgan Stanley - Internal Mobility Policy

I am a incoming analyst at MS who got placed in GCM/ECM/DCM and will be starting full time very soon. I liked my team over the summer and am happy to come back, but I want to move to a coverage group eventually for obvious reasons like client exposure, buyside exits.

I have seen examples on LinkedIn of people moving to coverage groups in IB from other divisions. These are mainly all analysts that started in capital markets or sales and trading, but there are also bigger jumps like from  strategic client management for example.

How possible is this change assuming 1-2 years of work in my current team? What is the approach to take to get it done?

I'm just an incoming summer intern but I'm wondering the same thing. What if I don't like my group assuming I go full time? Do I just wait it out or what

Very doable - there’s a number of programs (ISG Rotational for ex) that allow you to move around the firm. You would most likely need to do 2 years in capital markets and then move over through the foundational assoc program (FAS), albeit its for high performers and only take a few kids a year.

Never heard of FAS - can you tell me more?

And what about kids moving from another division entirely?

Curious how this works for S&T to IB? Will be an intern this summer in NY and wanna know more abt full time transfer programs
