Most 'Laid Back' (Chill) BB
Most banks seem to say that they have some sort of laid back culture. Most of it is probably bs, but who actually had the most laid-back culture in the BB? I am So-cal native searching for a somewhat familiar environment.

I have heard Lehman and Citi as Chill, but don't know if it is true or not.
I'm guessing you've never worked a white collar job in your life. And that everything you know about the east coast you learned from watching movies with "rude new yorkers" in them, like Devil Wears Prada.
edit: I should add, though, that there ARE still differences between firms in terms of how laid back they are. I agree with the guy below; CS seemed really relaxed and fun, to me.
Credit Suisse is pretty laid back.
.
Definately Citi and Lehman, UBS as well.
Deutsche, but I'm not 100% sure...
Definitely Deutsche, by far. Maybe Credit Suisse. I wouldn't consider any of the other ibanks laid back whatsoever.
The particular group you choose will make more of a difference than the firm.
LEH is definitely not "laid back". But I agree with above, the group is what determines the culture, not really the firm as a whole.
Have friends who work there and the business formal immediately says to me "not laid back."
Merrill?

Which of the banks are the most laid-back? Such casual clothing, not presumptious, down-to-earth ppl... etc...
Any ideas?
ive heard leh is pretty laid back (besides clothing) albeit a conservative shop
GS not laid back
heard DB is pretty chill
BSC- not laid back
MS- aggressive culture
GHL- laid back
ML?
JPMorgan.
How is UBS ranked? Isn't it pretty group specific as well?
Which BB has the easiest hours? (I know it varies group by group, but on average)
The shittier banks have, on average, the easiest hours. Guys, come on. There've been a hundred thousand posts about these issues. If you're worried about quality of life or putting in the hours, then find a different industry. All BBs and any of the top boutiques are going to work you hard.
The difference between 90 hours a week and 100 hours a week is huge, I don't know why EVERYONE ignores this question and just uses the blanket statement "if you care about hours dont do I-banking" as a response. I know banking is a lot of hours, but it doesn't mean I don't want to minimize the suffering.
Among BBs certain banks do have reputation's as "sweatshops." Some of it is deserved, but mostly this is group specific. The time component can also vary depending on whether you are an SA, 1st, or 2nd year. In my experience and my group I have never found "face time" to be important or required (but that could be different somewhere else). I also never found much of a difference between a 90 and 100 hour week. Though I work at a designated "sweatshop"my group does not have the worst hours and unless I am working on a live deal near completion I would say I average 90 hours a week.
i don't think the op was referring to hours -- "laid back" was referring to the general people in the company. again, i think JPM has the "chillest" culture I've seen/heard about.
