Move into consulting?

Hi all, I am currently working at a BB within their ECM team and I am weary of getting tied down because of the exit options. I also feel I’m not cut out for IB in general as I see myself in more of a consulting role.

Questions for the forum: - Is it a good time to try to make this move (given macro, layoffs etc) - Difficulty in making the move from IB particularly ECM (technicals, interview prep etc.) - Should I stick to my current role and then maybe do an MBA to pivot into consulting or even PE?

Thanks a lot

Hoping to add some visibility to your post since they seem like solid questions!

Honestly, my understanding is that you mostly need pre-MBA PE experience to recruit for post-PE roles. However, MBB firms definitely feed into PE roles.

In the meantime, despite the exit options concerns, how’s ECM? The work seems to be mostly related to IPO Pricing/ Private placements, but how are the hours - Is it generally 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday every week?
